Souvankham Thammavongsa’s Found: The film

Born in Nong Khai, Thailand in 1978, Souvankham is the author of several books of poetry, including Small Arguments (Pedlar Press, 2003) and Found (Pedlar Press, 2007). Small Arguments won the ReLit prize for poetry and was praised for its “beautiful jeweller’s eye lyrics”. Her second book, Found, is based on a scrapbook that belonged to her father. Her father kept this scrapbook while living in a refugee camp in Laos in 1978.

Thammavongsa has presented her poems at Toronto’s Harbourfront International Festival of Authors, Emily Carr, The Scream in High Park, York University’s Canadian Writers in Person Lecture series and Mercer Union – a centre for contemporary art. She lives in Toronto, Canada.

A film was made inspired by her second book.
